An NC Senate committee on May 13 unanimously advanced a bill that which would create the state’s first systematic K-8 math intervention program, modeled on Read to Achieve.

The CROWN Act legislation prevents discrimination against Black hairstyles, including braids, locs, afros, and other natural hairstyles, in schools and workplaces.

The state of Illinois is changing how schools regulate the hairstyles of their students with a new law prohibiting institutions from ruling against braids, twists and any hairstyle historically associated with race and ethnicity.

These institutions of education still uphold discrimination.

The U.S. Navy revised grooming regulations to allow Black women to wear some natural hairstyles.
