An NC Senate committee on May 13 unanimously advanced a bill that which would create the state’s first systematic K-8 math intervention program, modeled on Read to Achieve.
“Here we are talking about saving TikTok and we haven’t saved the 140 million poor folk in this country yet,” Barber said.
The event comes voting rights activists have urged for the Democrats to push back against Republicans who have passed laws making it harder for Black and minority communities to vote.
