It's important to put the Capitol riots in their proper historical perspective.

Micki Witthoeft, the mother of Ashli Babbitt -- who was fatally shot while rioting after illegally breaking into the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 -- called Lt. Michael Byrd, widely regarded as a hero, "reckless" and "careless" for shooting her. The irony.

While this isn’t the first attempt to reframe the attack on the capitol as something other than insurrection, disregarding the low turnout event could be a mistake.
