Over the weekend, social media was flooded with an alleged and, if true, consensual relationship Dwight Howard had with a man named Masin Elijè. In a series of tweets and videos, Elijè claimed his “life was threatened after I was sexually harassed, threatened and manipulated, by someone I respected, my ex boyfriend NBA player Dwight Howard, and his camp also ‘catfished’ by his disrespectful ass PASTOR.”

In series of tweets, which include audio and Howard’s pastor Calvin Simmons allegedly calling the man a “f***ot in a wig,” Elijè’s story has gone viral. However, what is more disturbing is how the homophobia against Howard has gone viral. Many on Twitter have automatically believed this unknown person and have been attacking the NBA player viciously.

Former NBA player Jason Collins, who is openly gay, wrote on Twitter, “Transphobic & homophobic jokes aren’t funny and can lead to deadly consequences. Transphobia & homophobia get people killed everyday around the world.” Dwight Howard has not responded to the accusations.
