Roy Hargrove, the smooth jazz trumpeter who bridged the gap between the bebop generation and contemporary hip-hop and R&B stylists. He died at a New York hospital on Friday at age 49.
The cause of death was cardiac arrest, with complications related to kidney disease, the
Washington Post reported.
His resume included performances with jazz legend

Hargrove was a two-time Grammy Award winner—first in 1998 for his Afro-Cuban album “Habana” and again in 2003 for his album “Directions in Music.”
