Coko from
SWV has officially waged a music war on social media. One of the most dynamic voices from ’90s R&B sounded off on some of today’s singers and she wasn’t impressed. Fellow SWV group members Taj and Lelee showed some love but the soprano who is known for big notes couldn’t hold back from telling her truth.

Coko listened to the vocals of
Teyana Taylor,
Queen Naija,
H.E.R.,
Kehlani,
Jhene Aiko and
The Internet. Some of her comments included: “I don’t live for her, I live for Jesus;” “I feel like I’m lost;” and “Nowadays, these girls all sound like a computer.” Also, this gem, “They were cool, I thought they all sounded like one long song.” Plus, there were tons of facial expressions.
However, Coko did have some love for Teyana Taylor. Watch the clip below:
In case you didn’t know, the New York native had one of the most powerful voices in 1990s R&B. SWV, which stands for Sisters With Voices, consists of
Cheryl “Coko” Gamble,
Tamara “Taj” Johnson and
Leanne “Lelee” Lyons. They broke through with the 1993 album “It’s About Time” and quickly rose to the top of the charts. Coko was known for singing the lead in songs like “Downtown,” “Anything,” “Rain,” and 1993’s “Weak,” which hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The group also received four Grammy nominations. They would go on to sell 25 million albums.
The group broke up in 1998 but reunited in 2005 and have since been touring all over the world.
