Mixed Race Couples In South Signal Changing Attitudes
Mississippi – It was only 45 years ago when interracial marriage was illegal in the deep south.
Today, while the thought of a mixed-race marriage is still looked upon strangely in streets in the deep-south, attitudes are changing as marriages increase amongst white and Black couples.
In the new census, findings show that the nation’s mixed-race population is growing far more quickly than many demographers had estimated, particularly in the South and parts of the Midwest.
