Sean Bell Killing And Harlem Shootout Share Tragic Links
A weekend Harlem block party that ended in a spray of gunfire and the death of a Bronx man shared a series of loose connections with the infamous Sean Bell case.
At the center of the odd link sits Trent Benefield, who was shot three times in a hail of 50 police bullets in Queens 2006.
Benefield, 26, was noticeably absent on July 27 when the city and his lawyer announced a $7 million settlement in the Bell shooting.
Instead of celebrating his legal victory – Benefield was awarded $900,000 – he was at his brother’s bedside at Harlem Hospital.
