University Of Connecticut Revokes Acceptance Of 13-Year-Old Girl
BRONX — A 13-year-old Bronx prodigy was accepted to the University of Connecticut, however the university later called her father to rescind the offer, stating she is not academically ready.
Batin Ashante said his daughter, Autum, is devastated by the sudden news. The NY Daily News and a host of news agencies reported about Autum’s acceptance at the time, making her a blogosphere sensation.
Her father says UConn’s decision is “B.S..”
The NY Daily News Reports:
“I’ve got nothing but positive feedback,” Ashante said. “I’m her dad and it just bothers me to see her go through this.”
Ashante said Autum notifed the school she’d be attending, and the family had been raising funds for tuition.
