Jesse Jackson, Jr. Says He Is Not An Informant
Jesse Jackson Jr. recently contacted CNN anchor Roland Martin to reject being called an informant. CNN had reffered to him as an informant against embattled Governor, Rod Blagojevich.
CNN had reported that in 2006, Jackson reported a shakedown to authorities, in which Jackson’s wife was denied a a position as state lottery director because Jesse Jackson Jr. did not donate $25,000 to Blagojevich’s campaign.
Spokesman for Jesse Jackson, Kenneth Edmonds, said “As a responsible citizen and elected official, Congressman Jackson has in the past provided information to federal authorities regarding his personal knowledge of perceived corruption and governmental misconduct. This was completely unrelated to the current investigation regarding the U.S. Senate appointment. And it is absolutely inaccurate to describe the congressman as an informant.”
