Video Shows Chicago Police Bringing Teen To Rival Gang Area
CHICAGO-Police are accused of dropping off a teenager, who appears to be a Latin King, in a rival gang’s area after a video was revealed. WBEZ Chicago reports:
In the footage, the doors of a Chicago Police Department vehicle are open and a young man in the back seat is shielding his face from view as a group of onlookers are shouting insults and throwing up apparent gang signs to the camera. At one point, a voice can be heard saying to a camera-holder “Get a close-up.”
The specific circumstances surrounding the video are unclear, but as WBEZ criminal justice reporter Robert Wildeboer has reported, there have been unconfirmed reports over the years that Chicago police have intentionally dropped off youth in rival gang territory.
