Philly Abortion Doctor Faces Murder Charges Hearing
PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia abortion doctor who allegedly performed illegal late-term abortions in filthy conditions is set to appear before a judge for his formal arraignment on murder charges.

Dr. Kermit Gosnell is scheduled to be in court Wednesday. Prosecutors say his West Philadelphia clinic was a squalid house of horrors where he and poorly trained staff regularly performed illegal abortions.
Authorities say Gosnell killed viable, live-born babies by severing their spinal cords with scissors. He is charged in the deaths of seven babies and one patient who died of a drug overdose.
Prosecutors say they are considering seeking the death penalty if Gosnell is convicted of first-degree murder.
