Women Kicked Off Napa Valley Wine Train Settle Lawsuit
A group of women booted from the Napa Valley Wine Train for being too loud have settled a racial discrimination lawsuit against the popular attraction for an undisclosed amount, CBS News reports.
The lawsuit filed initially sought $11 million in damages.
The women, comprised of a mostly African-American book club, were traveling on the train and discussing a romance novel when an employee told them they were offending other passengers with their noise level. The women were then escorted off the train to awaiting police.
The initial response from the company defended the decision to kick the women off the tour.
Later, the CEO of the company issued an apology to the women.
“The Napa Valley Wine Train was 100 percent wrong in its handling of this issue,” CEO Anthony “Tony” Giaccio said in a statement. “We accept full responsibility for our failures and for the chain of events that led to this regrettable treatment of our guests.”
