After it was announced this week that a Long Island, New York high school senior was accepted to all eight Ivy League schools, NewsOne decided to pay tribute to other students who also achieved major milestones over the past couple of years.
One of the first students on the list is Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna, 17, class valedictorian at Long Island, New York’s Elmont Memorial High School. News broke earlier this week that she was accepted at Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, Princeton University, and Yale University.
Uwamanzu-Nna has a 101.6 GPA and was also a finalist in the prestigious Intel Science competition. She follows in the tracks of another Elmont Memorial student, Harold Ekeh, who last year chose Yale from among the 13 universities at which he was accepted.
Take a look at the other students who’ve already begun making their mark at an early age, demonstrating that children of color can excel in the classroom when given the opportunity.
