Black History Month: The Women Behind the Veil
Black History Month: The Women Behind The Veil
From the march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama to the offices where the Civil Rights movement came to life, there were women present every step of the way. In fact, many of the movement’s biggest leaders were women, who fought the battle with heroes such as the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Medgar Evers, and more.
Here, in honor of Black History Month, we recognize some of the oft-forgotten women who paved the way in our civil rights movements and made it possible for Black liberation today.
In honor of Black History Month 2016, NewsOne will honor the accomplishments of our Black politicians, organizers, entertainers, and everyday people who have undoubtedly contributed to this great nation.
