Florida Police Arrest Man Who Sent Cops Selfie To Replace Unflattering Mugshot
The man who mocked a police department by posting his selfie on their Facebook page ran out of viral fame when he was arrested 24 hours after his prank in Florida.
ABC6 Action News reports Donald “Chip” Pugh was caught in the small town of Century, near Pensacola, Florida. Pugh’s arrest warrants from the Atlanta and Ohio police departments were quickly picked up following his encounter with the police.
Pugh teased Ohio’s Lima Police Department earlier this week when he sent them a selfie to replace the unflattering mugshot being used to find him.
The police department credited social media for finding Pugh.
Thanks to the power of social media & tips called into authorities, we have learned that Donald Chip Pugh has been arrested by the Escambia County Sheriffs Office in Florida. He is being held for warrants out of Columbus, Georgia, which he was out of the pick up radius for in Ohio but not in Florida. Alas we will wait our turn. Thank you to Escambia County & to those who provided information and continue to support law & order. – Escambia County Sheriff’s Office
Pugh gained viral attention and was the center of many memes after his gag. He was previously wanted for skipping a court date regarding a DUI, as well as arson and vandalism charges.
