Fox Anchor Asks Black Co-Host If She Makes Kool-Aid
So This Happened: Fox Host Asks Black Co-Host If She Makes Kool-Aid, Awkwardness Ensues
Just when we thought Fox News couldn’t get any worse.
During a pre-Thanksgiving segment on Fox & Friends, host Brian Kilmeade surprised his co-host Harris Faulkner when he asked her if she served Kool-Aid with her meals.
Yes, that happened.
Faulkner, who is Black, was sharing her peach cobbler recipe when Kilmeade asked what could be described as a racially insensitive, if not stereotypical question.
“Do you make Kool-Aid?” he asked.
“Uh, do I do what?” she replied.
“Make Kool-Aid,” Kilmeade repeated.
“Uh, no. I – I don’t make Kool-Aid. But I made an adult beverage for us,” Faulkner said in an attempt to change the trajectory of the conversation.
We’re not the only ones who thought the question was, well, ridiculous. After Kilmeade’s inquiry, co-host Steve Doocy looks directly at him, shocked, before asking him what we were all thinking — “What?”
