A day after Chicago police officials released graphic video of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald being gunned down by a Chicago police officer, President Barack Obama took to Facebook express concern.

Chicago is Obama’s adopted home. First lady Michelle Obama is a Chicago native and their daughters, Sasha and Malia, were both born in the city, which has been racked by violence in recent years.

The post, which went out about 7 p.m. ET, garnered 18,000 likes and 1.6k shares. Needless to say, most commenters agreed with Obama.

“President Obama, I agree,” wrote Nita Thomas Dye. “This Thanksgiving I will be praying for our troops and our citizens to be safe and peaceful. I support you, sir. I hope you and the family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!”

“I am former Law Enforcement,” wrote Terrence Parker. “It’s hard to be thankful to those who are taking our lives. I don’t even trust something that I use to be. There’s no excuse for all this outrage from law enforcement. They are there to serve & protect. That’s not being done.”
