NYC Man Who Stole $36 Of Baby Formula From Supermarket Charged With 2 Counts Of Grand Larceny
A New York City man who stole baby formula from a Pathmark supermarket last Thursday was charged with two counts of grand larceny after he upped the ante and swiped credit cards and a cell phone, police say.
Anthony Brown originally stole $36 worth of baby formula from the store, but it was when he took a security guard’s phone and credit cards as she tried to stop him that the seriousness of his charges increased.
According to DNAInfo:
An officer outside the supermarket tried to stop Brown but he was able to get away, police said.
Officers arrested him a short time later at the Wagner Pool a couple of blocks away. They noticed a bottle of Enfamil sticking out of his pants and a bulge on his leg before the arrest, according to the criminal complaint.
Brown was charged with two counts of grand larceny. He is at Rikers Island on $2,500 bail and is due in court Tuesday, records show.
An attorney for Brown, the outlet writes, was not available for comment.
