Kraft Recalls 36,000 Cases Of Cheese Singles Over Reports Of Choking
Kraft has recalled 36,000 cases of its popular Singles American and White American cheese after several people reported choking on the product, NBC News reports.
“A piece of the thin plastic wrapper surrounding the Singles has the chance of sticking to the cheese, which could cause someone to choke, according to a statement from the Kraft Heinz company,” says the report. Ten people reported the thin film remained on their cheese, and three reported choking.
The company says close to 377,000 packages of affected Singles were previously shipped to the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
“We deeply regret this situation and apologize to any consumers we have disappointed,” said the Heinz-Kraft recall statement.
This isn’t the first time the company has faced a recall. In March, Kraft recalled 6.5 million boxes of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese after metal was found in some of the packaging. They also recalled 1.2 million cases of cottage cheese last year due to improper storage.
