Ohio Toddler, 3, Fatally Shoots 1-Year-Old With Gun Found In Home
The fatal shooting of a 1-year-old boy at the hands of a 3-year-old in Ohio is being called “accidental” by Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams, Cleveland.com reports.
The young child, identified as Braylon S. Robinson, was taken to a nearby hospital after the shooting Sunday, but was later pronounced dead. According to police, the 3-year-old found the unattended gun inside the house, but investigators are trying to determine where the gun came from.
The person responsible for the weapon will likely face charges, Williams told reporters who gathered outside the scene of the tragedy.
From Cleveland.com:
The boy’s mother could be heard screaming on the back porch after she was told her son had died. A crime scene investigation crew spent roughly an hour and a half at the two-story house Sunday, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.
A section of the street in front of the house was blocked off by yellow caution tape for several hours. Neighbors said a mother lived in the house with at least three small children.
“They were really nice,” next-door neighbor Larry Simpson said. “It’s a shame this had to happen.”
At least one adult was home at the time of the shooting. An investigation continues.
