Journalism’s Most Influential Black Woman Reflects On Maya Angelou’s Mentorship
Journalist and former Editor-in-Chief of Essence Susan L. Taylor joined Roland Martin on “NewsOne Now” to discuss how Dr. Maya Angelou lived her life fully, mentored women around the country and continued to travel despite doctors’ warnings.
Taylor recounted that Dr. Angelou continued her regular Mentor Monday conference call gatherings, even up until this past Monday. “She was the most giving person I have ever met,” Taylor said.
“If you don’t use me, I am useless,” were Dr. Angelou’s last words to Taylor.
