Devon Franklin Explains the Recent Success of Black Films
Devon Franklin wear a lot of hats. He’s a pastor and husband to actress Meagan Good but he’s, notably, also an executive with Columbia Tristar Pictures. Franklin has been the driving force behind many very successful films released in recent years that star predominately black casts. His films often have another element: faith.
Roland Martin sat down with Franklin around the Trumpet Awards. The two chatted it up about the movie business and this current moment in Hollywood where black films are scoring big at the box office. They also discussed the faith community as a huge, mostly untapped, audience.
