Daphne Maxwell Reid: James Avery Was “Everybody’s Uncle Phil”
The news of actor James Avery’s passing still has people stunned. “Fresh Prince” star Daphne Maxwell Reid remembers her friend and co-star on “NewsOne Now.”
“We all have great memories of Uncle Phil. He was everybody’s Uncle Phil,” said Reid, “but I had the pleasure of being his other wife which was a delight. I treasured the man. He was a big part of who I am as a person. He taught me a lot. He shared a lot. He was an open, honest, wonderful man, and I really am going to miss him.”
She also shared that they had the privilege of working with writers to make the show culturally correct. “It was more culturally focused on our methods of raising children,” she continued. “We had the privilege to assist them in doing that.”
