Florida Man Tries Paying Water Bill With Cocaine
A Deltona, Fla., resident allegedly tried to pay his water bill with cocaine on the morning of Sept. 23, The West Volusia Beacon reports.
But when the unidentified man handed over the envelope, the teller at Employees at the Deltona Water office on Enterprise Road only saw a white, powdery substance and called the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office to check it out. The building was immediately evacuated and HAZMAT teams from both Volusia County Fire Services and the Deltona Fire Department responded.
When the substance was tested, authorities discovered it was drugs. “Interestingly enough, it was crack cocaine,” Volusia County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Brandon Haught said.
The Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the case. Surveillance cameras in the Deltona Water building were operating at the time, so the cops hope to find the man who left the drugs.
