Wendy Williams, Suzanne DePasse Team Up on Multi-Picture Venture

Talk show diva Wendy Williams (pictured left) and businesswoman extraordinaire Suzanne de Passe (pictured right) have joined forces to present new television and film ventures that will target a multicultural audience. The female dynamos’ first production alliance will be a VH1 adaptation of a Star Jones novel, according to P.R. Newswire.

The projects involving Williams, de Passe and Madison Jones, will be packaged under the banner “Wendy Williams Presents.”

“Wendy’s popularity and brand is evidenced by her success in daytime television. We are looking forward to expanding her brand and audience in all areas of filmed and scripted entertainment,” said de Passe.

When Jones visited the Williams talk show arena back in May, she mentioned that her novel “Satan Sisters” would be made into a TV movie with de Passe as a producer. Now Williams will also be billed as a producer for the VH1 film which revolves around the on-and-off camera lives of daytime talk show hosts.Williams began her radio career in 1989 before she moved over to daytime talk in 2008. The “Queen of All Media” has written books, one a New York Times bestseller, and pens a weekly column for the gossip magazine Life & Styles Weekly. She has produced a movie about her life which is still in the can. The “shock jockette” also appeared on the 12th season of the hit ABC-TV show “Dancing With the Stars” as a contestant. Williams has had acting stints, most recently she had a role in the Steve Harvey book-to-film adaptation, “Think Like a Man.” The 47-year-old even hosted the game show “Love Triangle” last year on the Game Show network; she and her husband, Kevin Hunter, acted as executive producers. Most recently, Williams launched an accessories line on the QVC network and has a shoe line in the works which is slated to make a splash the fall.

Working as a producer for eons, de Passe began her long-established career working for Motown icon Berry Gordy as his creative assistant. She is credited for bringing the Jackson 5 to Gordy’s attention. After leaving Motown, de Passe formed her own company back in 1992 and has produced countless cable, network, specials and award shows throughout the years. The woman who has generated over a billion dollars in entertainment revenue has also been the recipient of numerous awards for her contributions to the industry.

Jones’ credits include founding Revenger Comics and Revenger Studios, and executive producing President Obama’s Commander-in-Chief Inaugural Ball.
