Police Handcuffed This 6-Year-Old Girl For Misbehaving
Six-year-old kindergartner Salecia Johnson was handcuffed by Milledgeville police because they said the child threw a tantrum and could not be calmed down, TV station 13WMAZ reports.

The child allegedly was tearing items off of school walls and throwing furniture, according to police. The principal was reportedly injured during the child’s alleged tantrum.

The 6-year-old was sitting in the principal’s office at Creekside Elementary when police arrived to deal with the situation. When an officer tried to calm the child, she refused and was subsequently handcuffed. When asked why such a young child was handcuffed, police had this to say:
“Our policy is that any detainee transported to our station in a patrol vehicle is to be handcuffed in the back. There is no age discrimination on that rule,” said Milledgeville Chief of Police Dray Swicord.

Obviously, little Salecia’s parents were very upset.
“A 6-year-old in kindergarten. They don’t have no business calling the police and handcuffing my child,” said Earnest Johnson, Salecia’s father.
“Call the police? Is that the first step? Or is there any other kind of intervention that can be taken to help that child?” asked Candace Ruff.
