Justice Department Will Not Re-Investigate Malcolm X Case
In a statement released last week, the Department of Justice has declined to reopen the 46-year-old case on the assassination of Civil Rights leader Malcolm X. The department said the statute of limitations has expired on any federal laws that might apply to the case.
Despite the DOJ’s dissent, Civil Rights activists are ardently pushing them to proceed with the case, while citing the Emmett Till Unresolved Civil Rights Crime Act of 2007. Nonetheless, the DOJ contests that the Malcolm X assassination does not meet the parameters of that act.
