Kanye West Performs At Gil Scott Heron Memorial
NEW YORK-Producer and rapper, Kanye West paid tribute to the man many call the Godfather Of Hip Hop, Gil Scott Heron at a memorial at Riverside Church in Harlem. He performed “Lost in the World,” which sampled Gil Scott Heron’s song “Comment #1.” AllHipHop reports:
Others in attendance included members of The Last Poets, Malcolm Cecil, Gil Scott’s first wife Brenda Sykes and Gil Scott’s daughter Gia Scott-Heron, who read a poem and sang a rendition of the song “The Rose.”
